Three people wanted by Boise Police after protests turned violent at City Hall

The Boise Police Department is searching for three people after violence broke out Tuesday at two protests in front of City Hall.

Multiple reports and videos from a conjoining rally and counter-protest showed violence break out in multiple areas near Boise City Hall.

Police have released photos of three potential suspects. Possible charges include battery, fighting and disturbing the peace. Most of which will be misdemeanors, according to BPD.

"Detectives are currently looking into reports involving people on both sides of the protests and charges are possible for criminal acts committed by individuals across the spectrum from all sides of the protest," BPD said.

Police are also asking for people to file reports if they believe they were the victim of a crime that night.

"For the best chance of a successful prosecution, we encourage anyone who believes they were a victim of a crime during Tuesday night’s protest to contact police and file a report," BPD said.

BPD also said the subjects they are looking for are from two specific and separate incidents.

On Thursday, two police unions released statements on the violence from earlier in the week.

"We hold a slightly different view of what happened at the rally on Tuesday evening,” said Chad Wigington, president of the Boise chapter of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers. There were multiple bad actors at the event on Tuesday, which were not limited to counter-protestors. We also contend that there were very few violent incidents and that most attendees at the rally exercised restraint when their tempers flared.”

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #11 said in a release that it disagreed with the mayor's statement.

"We respectfully disagree with Boise Mayor McLean’s assessment of the situation. Overall, the vast majority of people expressed their voices peacefully. There were only a few instances in which anger got the best of people, but those actions were not limited to people on any one side of the issue."

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-2677 or Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
