Riddick Lamont Bowe was born on the 10th August 1967, in Brooklyn, New York City USA, one of 13 children. He is a boxer, former professional world heavyweight champion in the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, and Olympic heavyweight silver medallist from Seoul. He has been ranked as 21st in the list of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time by Boxing Scene. More, he has been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, in 2015.

To begin with, he won the championship in the category average in USA, in 1983. Two years later he became junior world champion in the heavyweight division. In 1987, he stood on the podium at the Pan American Games, and in 1988, he won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Seoul.

Bowe turned professional in March 1989, and by the end of the year he had won 13 fights. In March, 1991 he defeated gold medallist of the Olympic Games (1984) in the super heavyweight category, Tyrell Biggs. At the end of 1992 Bowe, faced Evander Holyfield, and surprisingly Bowe won on points, in addition knockinging Holyfield down in the eleventh round. The duel was recognized by the prestigious Ring Magazine as the fight of the year. Bowe thus became the owner of three championship belts – WBC, WBA and IBF. In 1995, he again became the world champion, WBO, knocking out Herbie Hide in the sixth round, and in the same way ended his next fight, against the Cuban Jorge Luis González (KO in the sixth round). After this fight, he resigned from the championship. In the end of 1995 there was a third battle with Holyfield. Initially, Bowe had a clear advantage, but in the sixth round was surprised by his opponent and the referee took a point from him for hitting below the belt. However, he managed to pick up and finished the fight early (TKO in the eighth round).

He then took a hiatus from sport until 2004, returning to the ring in September to defeat Marcus Rhode in the second round. Again he came to fight in April of the following year, defeating Billy Zumbrun although Bowe appeared overweight. To cut the long story short, in his record Bowe had 45 fights, 43 wins (33 by KO), 1 loss and 1 case with no contest.

Finally, in the personal life of the boxer, he married Judy in 1986 and they have five children. However, the two apparently divorced, after Bowe spent 17 months in prison for kidnapping his wife and children with a view to reconciling his marriage. They divorced in 1998 and he married Terri in 1999, and they have two children.
