Maricopa County seeks more time for Lori Vallow Daybell's complex second trial
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Lori Vallow Daybell will again head to trial, this time in Arizona.
Justin Lum with FOX10 reports that Prosecutors for Maricopa County are asking the judge for more time to bring her to trial by designating the case "complex." Lori's husband and co-defendant, Chad Daybell, will go to court in Idaho beginning April 1, 2024.
Prosecutors in Maricopa say many of the same witnesses who will testify and victims who will be present are the same in both Chad's trial in Idaho and Lori's trial in Arizona.
Lori went to trial in Idaho earlier this year, where she was found guilty of first-degree murder of her children, JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, and conspiring to murder Chad's previous wife, Tammy Daybell. Lori was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Arizona prosecutors have brought their charges against Lori Vallow Daybell, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder. Vallow Daybell is accused of conspiring with her brother, who is now deceased, to kill her former husband, Charles Vallow, and attempting to kill her Niece's then-husband, Brandon Boudreaux.
Chad Daybell faces first-degree murder charges in Idaho for the deaths of JJ Vallow, Tylee Ryan, and his wife, Tammy Daybell. JJ and Tylee's remains were found buried in his backyard. Brandon Boudreaux, several law enforcement personnel, DNA experts, FBI Agents, and others are needed to testify for both trials.
With Chad Daybell's trial already scheduled and Lori having already been sentenced to life in prison, Arizona prosecutors are asking the judge for more time to bring Lori to trial.
